What a month November was! We are now back from our epic 2015 European holiday, where we visited Dubai, Barcelona, Paris and then England. Seeing friends and family was a joy and showing Chile around London was amazing.
It is a great experience showing your loved one around your home town. I feel like Chile now knows the whole me and can now see how I lived my life before I arrived in Sydney. And the best news? My family adored him. It was so lovely seeing them embrace him and making him part of the family.
I wanted to check in on our trip so far, with a special mention about visiting Paris after the tragic attacks last week. Paris wasn’t part of our original plan. However, Chile had not been before and it’s only a short 1.5 hour flight from Barcelona, so we thought why not? For me, it would be my third trip but I hadn’t been during Autumn and off season, and it meant a quick trip on the Eurostar to London afterwards.
I have a very sweet tooth, especially when it comes to chocolate, so these no-bake cacao peanut butter bliss balls are perfect when you fancy a little sweet hit. I’m a big snacker and these little guys really hit the spot for me after dinner with a cuppa. No guilt and all the flavour. I also packed some for our trip – they’re great when I’m bored on a flight and want something to snack on while I’m watching crap movies.
I made my decision to quit my job to travel the world just 6 months before I jetted off on a one-way ticket to Russia. It was an easy one to make really. I’d just come out of an eight year relationship and I was back living with my parents. I was in year three of a stressful PR agency job and was feeling frazzled and demotivated. My daily commute was 3 hours. I had savings with no idea on what to spend them on. And I had a massive itch that I couldn’t scratch to SEE THE WORLD!
This weekend one of best friends Claire came to stay. Lucky her, she has this week off, so she crashed with me for the weekend on her way to Byron Bay. I’ve known Claire for years and worked with her at one of my first PR agency jobs in London. She’s been there for me through the usual ups and downs of my twenties. Funnily enough, like me, she also decided to take a few months off work last year, travelling through Asia. She ended up in Australia 12 months ago and hasn’t looked back.
Happy Monday y’all! The countdown is well and truly on until my holiday – 1 week today! I am so excited and can’t wait to get a change of scenery. My last holiday was to the Philippines in Feb and that seems like a very long time ago. On this trip, Chile and I will be visiting Dubai, Barcelona, Paris and London, so a pretty epic trip. Chile will meet my friends and family, and I will meet his friends in Spain for a wedding. My Spanish course will definitely come in handy.
